Bonnie’s Last Wish for Suffering Donkeys – Supporting Animal Aid Unlimited
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
to everyone who purchased our donkey t-shirts, art and xmas cards for our beautiful volunteer Bonnie Christopher”
OUR DONATION TOTAL SO FAR: £4,542.52
Former Compassionate Dorset volunteer and loyal fan of our Compassionate Tee-Shop, Bonnie Christopher, launched her own gofundme page back in 2015 to raise funds for the charity Animal Aid Unlimited when she discovered she was battling terminal cancer.
In her honour the charity set up the ‘The Bonnie Christopher Forever Home for Donkeys’ in Udaipur in India, to help thousands of neglected and abused working donkeys, and to give them the love (and cuddles!) that Bonnie is no longer able to give directly herself (including baby donkeys like ‘Bob-Bon’ pictured at the top of this page, who was named after Bonnie).
Bonnie was able to watch gleefully with us as the online orders flooded in for our original t-shirt campaign and we are thrilled that it gave her tremendous hope and excitement through her final days here on Earth. Shortly before she passed away in November 2015, she sent us this lovely thank you message:
“With thanks to all of you that have bought donkey tshirts, my fundraising total has smashed through the £15,000 target. This is an incredible achievement… Thank you to everyone for your support, it means the world to me and will make the world of difference to many, many suffering donkeys. xxx”

Here is a breakdown of how much we raised:
Summer 2015 – Donkey themed t-shirts designed by Boo&Stu – 170 t-shirts sold in just 3 weeks – raised £1,237.00
November 2015 – Christmas Donkey t-shirt and re-run of original tees – over 130 t-shirts sold – raised a further £794.52
November to December 2015 – Christmas Donkey greetings cards – around 550 cards sold online and at Compassionate Dorset events – raised an additional £357.50
December 2015 – Bonnie Donkey Xmas Art Auction on Facebook with artworks by Sam Cannon and Boo&Stu – sold over 30 prints in 1 week – raising an amazing £1,535.00
Christmas 2016 – various online print sales and donations at Compassionate Dorset events in memory of 1 year since Bonnie’s passing – donated a further £300.00.
Christmas 2017 – ‘One Day’ prints and cards by Sam Cannon now available online for Xmas – £35.00 to be donated and counting…
Artworks created especially for Bonnie by Sam Cannon and our founders at Boo&Stu were shipped to lucky bidders all over the world and the auction raised a fantastic amount towards Bonnie’s Last Wish for Suffering Donkeys campaign. Although Bonnie was not here to see the auction for herself, it helped to give her family hope and strength, and the original “One Day” painting (above) by Sam Cannon was bought by Bonnie’s Mum and Dad and takes pride of place in their family home. These were very special and beautiful prints of an original watercolour and pen painting called “One Day” by Sam Cannon. The calligraphy on the picture reads a quote from Martin Luther King Jnr as follows:
“One day the absurdity of the almost universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls and become worthier of sharing this planet with them.”
Bonnie’s overall campaign total including all other donations currently stands at an awe-inspiring £27,100.00+ – which is a testament to her influence and compassion for animals – her light really does shine on. We love you Bonnie and always will 🙂
